Royal Wedding Street Party

On May 1st, 2018, 2:15 pm through 4:00 pm an event commenced.  A Royal Street Party! Our Elementary students celebrated the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by an amazing event.

The first through sixth grade learned about a ”Maypole,”dance. Then, we held ribbons while we tried the dance. Music played to the beat of our dance. I do admit all the students need some practice!

Then, the elementary students all went up the stairs to get some snacks. There was all sorts of British treats. We had fairy cupcakes, UFO British candy, and shortbread ( we also had popcorn but popcorn isn’t a British candy).

Some of the elementary students watched high school doing P.E. Others played games such as: hoop throwing and fishing the ducks.

Our students of the elementary classes celebrated this event as a tradition from England. This was a great time for many. Everyone had fun with the Royal Wedding Street Party!

Spring Music Concert

On May 10th, 2018  there was an extraordinary event, the GLCA Spring Concert. Our K-6 elementary students came in to start our dance and surprised everyone with our skilled moves.

The part that I enjoyed the most was dancing in front of everyone, after all the months of practicing. Playing the recorder with my friends and listening to other performances was the best part.

The most challenging part was practicing for my piano solo. I spent about 3 weeks practicing the piano pieces. I played” The Waltz from sleeping beauty” and” In The Hall Of The Mountain King”

I am proud that I didn’t make a mistake in the dance. Finally, playing the piano was also very pleasing. My Mom and I were very happy that I finished piano book 2. That was a celebration!

Finally, we had refreshments, and took down all of our artwork. We went outside to play. Then our parents came to get us, and we went home.

Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of England. Princess Elizabeth was crowned Queen  Elizabeth II on June 2,1953. How did a princess become a queen? Read on and I will tell you.

Queen Elizabeth’s Mother, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, married King George IV, her father. Then, her mother gave birth to Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926, at 2:40 am. Later, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and King George IV had another daughter, Princess Margaret Rose.

When both Princesses were older, they were educated together at home. Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret learned French with a French man that also spoke English. The Princesses also learned history, language, literature, and music.

While attending a wedding, Princess Elizabeth met Philip Duke of Edinburgh and fell in love with him. On 20th of November, 1947 Princess Elizabeth married Philip. They married at West Minister Abbey, London at 11:30. Princess Elizabeth and Philip Duke of Edinburgh received over 2,500 wedding presents!

After Princess Elizabeth and Duke Philip married, Elizabeth’s father died. So now the throne had to be passed down to her. On June 2, 1953, the coronation day happened. The duty of being queen was passed down to her. During World War II, 1940-1944, Princess Elizabeth helped with orphanages in  England and served the auxiliary. Over the years she has visited many countries with Philip, some of which are: Canada, United States, Kenya, Bermuda, Jamaica, The Fiji, Tonga Island, New Zealand, Australia, Africa, Malta, Gibraltar, Paris, South Pacific, South East Asia, Several European Countries, and much more.

After several years Queen Elizabeth and Duke Philip started their family. First, Queen Elizabeth had Prince Charles, then Princess Anne was born. Next, the family welcomed the birth of a 2nd son, Prince Andrew. Last, Prince Edward, the 3rd son, and 4th child was born. Joining the family was 3 dogs.

On June 7th, 1977 the Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee, her 25 Anniversary Celebration. There were over 12,ooo celebrations and lots of big parades to party this event.

Queen Elizabeth is the oldest living Monarch to this date. As of May 2018 she is 92 years old. The next heir to the throne is Prince Charles. When Queen Elizabeth passes away Prince Charles will be the king. This will close the era of Queen Elizabeth and the British Kingdom will be passed down to her son.

The Important Poem

The important thing about bunnies is that they hop.

They have fur,

they eat carrots,

they sometimes have floppy ears.

They smell like hay,

they taste like meat.

But the important thing about bunnies is that they hop.

Limerick Poem

My first limerick

There once was a boy named Carson

He was a very small person.

He sang a song

With a big bong

And that’s how he learned his lesson.

 My second limerick

There once was a really big pretzel.

It was a sign out of metal.

It then fell

Into a well

And that made a really loud rattle.

Golden Cuteness

When I first opened the brown box with holes

I saw the golden cuteness

the sand colored dog__

with snow-white paws

and a crystal shaped spot on his belly.

Names…

Boneco?

Estrelinha?

Fofinho!

That was the perfect name

Fofinho__

First hold, softer than velvet

I felt him shaking

I, as nervous as him.

Carmel fur snuggling into my arms

like a snail curling into his shell.

Home, new home.
